Easton Youth Basketball's REC Program offers to teach the game of Basketball to the youth of Easton in an environment that is focused on learning the game, providing a structure in which the kids can have fun with their friends while doing it.  All Games are at either Olmsted Richardson School Gymnasium, or the Easton Middle School Gymnasium.

Kindergarten and First Grade program:

We introduce and develop the skills necessary to play the game of basketball. This is a clinic format, grouping the kids in teams that run through drills together throughout the year. This program works in game situations in 1 on 1, 2 on 2, and 3 on 3 games, allowing the players to focus on particular aspects of the game.  We end the year with a series of 4 on 4 games that help us demonstrate the skills and concepts demonstrated and how they apply to a game situation, while introducing the next level of play. Parents are encouraged to participate and are asked to lead drills in smaller group sessions.

Second Grade Program:

Our Second Grade program is split by gender, and builds on the previous years experience. Still in clinic format, players are again grouped in teams that they will run through drills and games with. While basic skills are revisited, more advanced team concepts are introduced. Team based play starts earlier in this program and drills are constructed to encourage competition ( sneaking in some learning !). The end of the year will have a series of 4 on 4 games ( which we will keep score!) again, introducing the kids to the next level of play. Parents are encouraged to participate and are asked to lead drills in smaller group sessions.

Third and Fourth Grade Program:

Third and Fourth Grade players are placed on teams in the beginning of the year, have 1 practice during the week, and games on Saturday. Practices are structured and are designed to build on the concepts and skills taught in the Kindergarten/First and Second Grade Programs. At this point, players should have average knowledge of rules and basic concepts, and some may be showing an interest in practicing on their own. By coordinating the skills and drills useful to individuals as well as teams the previous 2-3 years, players will be prepared to try-out for our Travel Basketball Program starting in the 4th Grade.

Fifth and Sixth Grade Program:

Fifth and Sixth Grade Players are placed on teams in the beginning of the year, have 1 practice during the week, and games on Saturday.  Practices are structured by the coaches and games are officiated by referees.

Seventh and Eighth Grade Program:

Seventh and Eighth Grade Players are placed on teams in the beginning of the year and do to limited gym space do not practice, only playing games on Saturday.

High School Rec:

High School REC is a Friday night league at Oliver Ames High School.
